I lost my best friend, my grandma, my dog i used to cry but as moving forward in my life i realized that cry isn't worth anymore. Hey, my name is Paula, and I want to leave a little message to those who are struggling with depression, anxiety, mental ilness, loneliness and identify with this song in general. First of all, even though you feel lonely, you are not alone in this. I understand how hard it is to deal with depression, because I did struggle with depression and suicuidal thoughts when I was younger, so I do understand how lonely, sad, and horrible it feels to feel you are alone, to supress your emotions, to just want a hug but not wanting to ask for one, to simply wanting to end it all, but there is something beutiful that I want to share with you today. I'm going to let you know a bit about me, so I hope it is okay and please read it to the very end. When I was 14, I started to struggle with depression. My mom was always working, because the economy of our country was getting worse and worse, so we moved here to the US. I used to have depression and supress my feelings, sometimes I used to hit myself and did not think very well of myself, but instead wanted to end up my life at some point. I used to have issues with talking about my feelings, because I thought people would not hear me, and I felt so lonely, and had so many of my worst moments when I thought nobody was there for me, but now I see there was always someone by my side. So, my family and I moved here to the US because of the economy and other issues in my country, but because we did not have enough money, we used to go to a local church that provided boxes full of food. One day, however, I saw that in the church, the people were giving books for free, so I was a bit curious about it, and so I grabbed a New Testament and took it home. I believe I did not know it was a New Testament, I grabbed it because it was purple and my stepsister told me that there was a purple book right there, so I grabbed it. A few days latter, I remember opening it, and when I did I found a little smaller book inside the New Testament called, "Salvation Plain and Simple" written by Curtis Hutson. (I will leave the link of the book here if you want to read it, it is very beutiful and definitely worth taking the time to read: drive.google.com/file/d/1ch9GH_QgrnPcsulTohBUpKee7hnZyaof/view?usp=drivesdk ) So, In this book, the author tells the story of an elderly man and a child, in which the elderly man asks the child questions, which are about knowledge and culture in general, or things of this world. When the boy responds that he does not know the answers, the man tells him that he has wasted 25% of his life. However, at one point, the man begins to drown, and the boy asks him if he knows how to swim. The man answers no, and the boy then answers that he has wasted his WHOLE life since he did not learn how to save himself in a situation like this (he did not learn to swim). This is very similar to our life: we usually wander, try to do things to give a meaning to our life, maybe find a good job that makes us feel we are using our time properly, try to find an identity to feel we are truly someone, try to fill our heart with something that makes us feel better when notjing else truly satisfies us, and we spend our whole life trying to fill this empty places, and give answer to the questions "Who am I?" "Why am I here?" "Is there any point in my existence?" "Am I truly loved?" "What truly defines who I am?" "What is the purpose of living, and what is the most important thing in life?" and in our search we find that nothing fills us, nothing motivates us, nothing satisfies us. Neither series nor relationships, nor identities, nor ANYTHING in this world can fill us completely. Why? Because this was never how God intended it to be. We, like that elderly man, are going to die at some point, and after that death, an eternity awaits us. Unfortunately, we, as human beings, are imperfect beings, and we have sinned, and sin deserves to be forever condemned. We, ALL OF US, no matter what we have done, deserve death, because we have done bad things during our lives, and as the word says, "For the wages of sin is death..." (Romans 6:23), Therefore, we deserve to die eternally in hell. Yes, I know it is very strong and sad, and my intention is not to judge anyone, I just want you to acknowledge the serious and terrible situation in which we are in. Because of sin, people suffer from depression, anxiety, suicide, panic attacks, we lie, do terrible things, and harm others in many ways. Because of other people's sin and even our own sin, there are people who are currently ending up their lives, have mental illness, do not know who they truly are, are involved in vices, suffer from depression and anxiety, commit suicuide, and all of other terrible things that happen in our world. For example, a child that suffers from depression, probably is because they had parents who were abusive towards his child, or were aleays busy, and because of the parents lack of attention, the child has now earned a mental ilness. We, might, therefore blame the patents, but if we look closer at the parent's childhood, maybe those parents also had a bad childhood, therefore it is something that passes down generationally, so the problem would not fall into the parents, therefore, what is the true issue here? The problem here is called sin. But, what is sin then? It is anything that goes againts God's truth, and anything that separates us from Him. A great example of this is Adam's sin. Adam sinned because God told Him not to eat the forbidden fruit, and by doing so he was acting againts God's truth, and was automatically separating himself from Him, because sin separates us from the presence of the Lord (just as sin brough Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden, because now sin brough wickedness to our being, and that is what separates us from God because good, which is God, and evil, which is man wickedness cannot co-exist) We all suffer because of sin, and we are all, unfortunately, condemned, because when Adam ate that fruit that the Lord told him not to eat, we were ALL automatically condemned to be slaves of sin and to have an eternity without God, since Adam now knew not only what is good, which is God, but also the bad: sin, which is man's disobedience. Now, why do I mention this? Because, are people who commit things that they know are not right, happy? I used to have depression problems, why? Because I didn't know God, because others hurt me, and because I told myself things that weren't true, which caused me to suffer from depression because I didn't know God. This also brings us to a very important point and that is that since we are imperfect and sinful beings, we need someone to rescue us, because we are condemned and without the presence of the Lord our entire life will be complete suffering. In my case, I suffered from depression because I did not feel love from my mother and family, and then I committed a very big sin of having an intimate relationship (sex) with a woman while I was also a woman, which is wrong, and led me to even have more depression. Why? Because sin brings death and destruction to our being, and not only on this earth but also in eternity. Again, I do not intend to judge anyone, because I know, really I do know, how it feels to wander in life and try to find our identity in the things this world offers us and have insecurities, but sin it's not our identity. We were meant to be made in the image of God because through Him, we get to experience what is good, but sin brought separation from what is good for us. Now that we know we are sinners, and we know that we are condemned, what should we do? Well, do you remember the verse I just mentioned? The verse goes on to say, "...but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 6:23. Now, we have good news! Jesus, the Son of God, came to this earth to die for our sins, and not only for that, but he also resurrected on the 3rd day, and through His resurrection, we have eternal life. I'm going to explain it in more detail: We are all sinners, just as the word says in Romans 3:10-12, "‭As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.” Also, 1 John 1: 8-10 says‭, "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us." And, because we are sinners, we deserve an eternity in hell and judgment, just as the word says, "the wages of sin is death." Because of this, when we die we will have to be accountable and pay the price of ALL the sins we committed through life. However, Jesus, the Son of God, came to take that judgment upon Himself, which is why He died on the cross. He died on the cross so that the wrath and judgment that we deserved would fall on Him, so that our debt would be paid, as the word says in Galatians 3:13, " Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” because the law (that of sin, the law of God's commandments that constitutes us sinners) condemns us, (just as the federal laws condemn a person who drove at a faster distance than the one established by the law, and is condemned to jail; or a thief being condemned by the law for stealing something small, because the law establishes that anyone who steals is a thief), but Christ was condemned in our place on that cross for us to pay the price for our sins...

I am a 12 year old girl with a lot of pain, anxiety,sadness,stress,depression and anger I have all of this sense I was 8 years old and a lot of it came from my parents who never had any time for me and neither did my siblings I come from a big family of 8 kids ( counting me ) and everyone thinks that I always have someone to play with but no everyone just petitioned that I am not here but any time I cried they would always make fun of me so I haven’t cried in front of people sense I was 8 and this song makes me feel like it is ok to cry so thank you.

Im a 23 year old male grew up in orphanages and Foster homes and being physically and sexually abused found my real family now and now I'm homeless after I tried to move in with them they were still abusive and stole all my money and threatened to kill me so I'm homeless now trying come up it not easy i have no one every one leaves when u down but not when u up

I wanna share my story here in the comments, hoping that one day I'll come back to this comment in a better place. So, when I was six years old, my mom and dad left me, and my grandma took care of me. I used to call her "mom" because I barely remember my real parents. Two years later, my grandma passed away, and they put me in an orphanage. Since I was in a country that doesn’t care much about kids' rights, I went through a lot. They used to beat me and lock me up in dark places. When I turned 13, an old lady adopted me. She was really kind, but she passed away when I turned 18. She was so good to me, and I miss her a lot. She made sure I stayed in school and learned as much as I could. Just when I was about to start college, war broke out in my country, and I had to flee to another country all by myself, not knowing anyone. Now, I work three jobs just to pay for my room and continue my studies. I study during my breaks at work, and when I get home, I listen to this song and cry. I’m really exhausted and hope that one day when I look back at this comment, things will be better. If your life is even a bit better than mine, be grateful for what you have. Despite everything, I’m truly grateful. Please wish me well, friends.

I'm Brazilian, I tried to commit suicide 3 times, when I was 15 I had depression, today I'm 21, but Jesus Christ looked at me and saved me! Today I don't have depression, Jesus can heal you too!!! He loves you, He sees you, He cares about you, You need to take the first step, and want to get out of depression! He awaits you! Listen to hymns, seek Him, this world only offers you death! I wish you all the best and if you have suicidal thoughts that just wont go away ask for help . Sometimes all you need is a hug or a kiss from a loved one in order to feel okay. If you don't have anyone you can trust maybe try to get up and do something you enjoy i know that isn't easy but sometimes all you need is a little sunshine to dry the Storm. I'm a 15 year old nd i listen to it almost everyday now. The lyrics just hit so true that it shakes me to my core everytime i listen. All the sufferings in my past show up that i buried a few years ago. Its like i wanted to cry but i couldn't. After listening to the song the first time i cried so hard. This really hits home as in my childhood my father was not often present. My mother was very distant and I never received a real loving hug from her until I was 14. I sometimes wish I could've had a loving caring friend back then and even now I wish for one sometimes... but at the end of the day, all I should really need is myself and God <3
